Year 2003. Berdyev - we won!

Successful years.

Season 2003, the debut for "Rubin" in Premier League, was originally not meant to be triumphant. Significant changes in the team associated with the arrival of a large number of foreign players, such as Calisto and Roni (Brazil), Sibaya (South Africa), Scotti (Uruguay), Čížek and Novotny (Czech Republic), perceived ambiguously.

But head coach Kurban Berdiev managed to unite players from abroad to the promising Russian players who had something to prove in football. This season became successful for such players as Kozko, Sharonov, Boyarintsev, Konovalov, Sinev, Fedorov, discover new facets of their talent. The result is a game ensemble, capable of completely unexpected for all major challenges.

Year 2003. Decisive match against CSKA

Season began with defeat from CSKA (0:4). It was followed by the first victory gained in a hard game against Torpedo-Metallurg (1:0), good games outside against Krylya Sovietov (0:0) and Dynamo (0:0). Victory at home over Torpedo (3:1) and Spartak (1:0) marked the place of Rubin in mid-table. This was followed by 10 matches without defeat, which lifted up Kazan team to the 2-nd place. But a series of unsuccessful games and serious injury of goalkeeper Sergei Kozko led to a series of losses. The most offensive was the defeat at home by Zenit St. Petersburg, after which Rubin dropped to 5-th place. Before the final three games of the season at home with Krylya Sovietov, outside against Torpedo-Metallurg and the final match against CSKA champion of the country a situation was created that in the case of three wins in these matches, our team could take third place. And Rubin, perfectly spending the remaining matches, achieved his goal. Especially remembered a final meeting with CSKA, when Kazan, losing during the match, pulled out the victory and became the bronze medalist of Russian championship.

Year 2003. Rubin got bronze medals

Year 2004 Rubin began on an optimistic note. Practically no one left the team, and replenishment looked promising. From Prague Slavia came Adam Petroush and midfielder Richard Dostalek. To a Brasilian forward Aloisio, who came at the end of the season 2003, joined perspective striker from Argentina Alejandro Dominguez From River Pleyt. From Moscow Saturn came an experienced goalkeeper Valery Chizhov, and from Moscow Torpedo defender Marat Makhmutov. From Chechen Terek returned forward Vladimir Bayramov.

Then Kazan managed to climb in the standings, but 7 games without a win once again led Rubin in the danger zone, out of which our team managed to climp only at a finish of the season. Tenth place, of course, was seen as a failure after the excellent season-2003. But a particularly painful memoirs to fans left matches of UEFA Cup with Vienna Rapid. After an excellent away victory with a score 2:0, came a home "fiasco" with a score 0:3.
