FC Rubin reserves boss Roman Sharonov shares his postmatch impressions after the 0-1 win over FC Zenit
- We have committed many unforced mistakes in attack in the first half in terms of decision-making, handling the ball. The boys did not fulfill the message we delivered in terms of attack. Regarding our defensive performance, we played quite well. Regarding the pressing we were supposed to make, we were not aggressive enough. We created some really good situations in attack, just what I wanted to see.
The second half was more solid both in defence and attack as well as in terms of aggresiveness but unfortunately we were not able to finish as we did not took enough shots on goal and needed more through balls in the final third. In general, based on the way Zenit played for they played forward, I think, our today's performance was satisfactory.
- Could you please assess the first part of the season?
- We have had some good sequences and halves but we have failed to make them continuous. The standings reflect our victories, draws and defeats, but if we take playing quality vs. points correlation, the playing quality will mean much more to me because our mission is to train and prepare players for the first team. Now the first part of the season is over and each of us should make certain analysis, have some rest and keep on working in order to progress.
