FC Rubin and Kurban Berdyev have reached an agreement in principle about the specialist’s return as the club’s head coach.
Kurban Berdyev was the head coach of FC Rubin from 2001 to 2013. Under his guidance, team became two-time champion of Russia (2008, 2009), winner of the Russian Cup (2012) and Supercup (2010, 2012), bronze medalist of the Russian Championship (2003, 2009), and participant of UEFA Europa League quarterfinals (2013).
Radik Shaimiev, president of FC Rubin:
- I am glad, that we managed to reach an agreement with Kurban Berdyev and his coaching staff about their return to FC Rubin. We certainly will reach the leadership positions in the Russian football and will have successful matches in the European tournaments only by joint efforts.
- Firstly, we are very glad, that we are returning. I am speaking on behalf of the whole coaching staff. FC Rubin and Kazan are our home, that’s why we are very glad to return, we will be working.
Rustam Sayakhov, general director of FC Rubin:
- Contract with Kurban Berdyev is planned to be long-term, well worked, and structured. Accordingly, when all final details will be agreed, it will be signed, we have an agreement in principle. However, Kurban Bekiyevich has already started his work. Today team had medical checkup, tomorrow FC Rubin is going to the first training session.
